Gifted Matters 4 Kids is New York State's premiere service for gifted and twice-exceptional learners, developed and provided by Dr. Susan Paynter of Woodstock, NY, child advocate, award-winning educator, and nationally recognized expert on gifted learners.

Parents, teachers and administrators all recommend Dr. Susan Paynter.

Dr. Susan Paynter brings her watchful eye, analytical mind and years of experience working with children, teachers and families to each consultation. Her wisdom, humor and insight set the tone for collaborations that yield numerous paths to achieving improved outcomes for children in the classroom, and for teachers seeking solutions.
— Michelle Hughes, Head of School, High Meadow School, Stone Ridge, NY
Dr. Paynter is an educator, and she educates all of those around her, seeking out the highest-quality standard that the educational system can provide. She is a tireless thinker, visionary, and collaborator and has a spark that makes teachers feel invited into the process and nurtured in their work — with practices that are immediately employable. Working with Dr. Paynter was also an education to me as the Coordinator of Talent Development at Ulster BOCES. There is wisdom she shares readily from her years of experience and the hundreds of people whose lives she has touched that is not possible to obtain from the finest book. Her willingness to explore, discover, and collaborate — and her expertise — seem to have no limits.
— Amy Poux, Former Coordinator for Talent Development at BOCES Ulster, NY
To say that she was the right choice would be an understatement. Dr. Paynter rocked my son’s world in just a few sessions (and mine as well). Dr. Paynter was able to provide the tools he needed to realize his own potential, along with the desire to do his best. Literally the first week we began to see the changes in him that we had been waiting for. My son stated that if all teachers were like Dr. Paynter, kids would want to do their best and would learn more. I have to agree with him.
— Carolyn Ackerman, parent, Rhinebeck, NY
Dr. Paynter skillfully weaves important social lessons in with fun and engaging team projects, and my son enjoyed every minute of it! He’s putting his new-found skills to use at home and in the class with much success. It’s not too much to say that our experience with Dr. Paynter has been quite literally life-changing — she helped us to see and understand, in a way we never did before, the amazing potential of our child. I wish everyone had the opportunity to work with her!
— Allison, parent, Stone Ridge, NY
Out of the many wonderful resources and offerings we have taken advantage of in/around our school, our son has had the most benefit from the Gentlemen’s Club with Dr. Paynter. He came home zinging with stories about each class, and references it often. We are very appreciative of the teachers and Dr. Paynter for seeing the need within the classroom and answering it in such a supportive, inclusive and meaningful way. Dr. Paynter kept us apprised on a weekly basis with a synopsis of the lesson, including photos of the boys as they worked on their projects, so we were able to further the discussion with our son at home. We will definitely sign up for the series whenever it is offered again.
— Allison Zinczenko, parent, Stone Ridge, NY
Dr. Paynter did extraordinary work with the Gifted and Talented program. I know what a positive impact it made on my family and, I trust, all the other families that are a part of the program. Your passion, enthusiasm and dedication are second to none.
— Marissa Rothkopf Bates, parent, Montclair, NJ
Amazing! I can only say great things about Dr. Paynter. My son looks forward to seeing her and is eager to to learn. I just wish that I had found her sooner.
— Sherry Russell, parent, Woodstock, NY
The guidance, professionalism and amazing leadership of Dr. Paynter will never be matched. She recognized in me the passion for art, for history, and for teaching kids how to think and learn. That gift gave me the confidence and motivation to listen to the small, still voice that has been nudging me forever to honor the teacher in me. There aren’t enough “thank yous” in the world to express how grateful I am. Thank you, thank you... as the kids say... to infinity!
— Eyleen Faust, Teacher
Dr. Paynter is commended for her professionalism in providing an exceptional report and a dynamic set of recommendations that have had direct impact on the refinement of the program that the Wayne School District offers for gifted and talented students at the elementary level.
